Introduction

GoVIP has a single type of account, which is external to the main Ammedia Digital accounts system that you might use to login to other services we provide. We separate GoVIP from the main accounts system for a couple of reasons:

  • GoVIP came before the new Ammedia Account concept, and we see little point in completely redesigning the core accounts system of the product, forcing all users to migrate over to the new system.
  • GoVIP already offers a secure login approach for the platform standalone, and – given the use case for 90% of accounts (as community members, not managers) would yield negligible benefit from having other Ammedia services attached to their GoVIP account.

In the future, you’ll be able to link your Ammedia Digital account with a GoVIP account, which can benefit Community Accounting & Finance Managers by providing access to subscription information inside of Ammedia One.

Creating an Account

Creating an account on GoVIP is simple, and can be achieved using a couple of different methods;

  • Of course, we support the traditional email and password combination – you can sign up using this here.
  • You can sign up via a number of different social services, most of which you’ll most likely already have accounts for. These include Google, Discord and we have plans to support new social services in the future – including your Ammedia Digital account if you already have one.

After creating your account, you’ll be taken to the dashboard. If you’re new to GoVIP – meaning you haven’t yet joined or created a community – the dashboard will look a bit different. It’s designed to guide you through the process of joining or creating your first community. Once you’re part of a community, the dashboard switches to its regular layout, showing quick links to help you get started and engage with any community you’re a member of.

Account Security

Keeping your GoVIP account secure is our top priority – and it should be yours too.

We offer a range of security features to help protect your account, and we strongly recommend taking advantage of them.

Control over Social Authentication

GoVIP supports login through a standard called OpenID, which powers familiar options like “Sign in with Google” or “Sign in with Discord”.

Because you can link multiple services to your GoVIP account, we give you full control over which ones can actually be used to sign in. Just linking a service doesn’t automatically enable it for login – you decide which services are allowed to start a GoVIP session.

If you’ve disabled login for a linked service and later try to use it, you’ll see an Account not Linked message. This follows common web standards: services shouldn’t reveal account info unless the user is actually authorised.

To manage your login options, go the Account page and click Connections”. after switching on Edit Mode, you’ll see checkboxes for each linked service. Don’t forget to click the Save button at the bottom of the screen after making changes!

Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your GoVIP account. Instead of relying solely on your password/social sign-in, MFA requires a second step to verify your identity – typically using something you have, like your phone.

Even if somebody gets ahold hold of your password, they still can’t access your account without that second factor. When MFA is enabled, you’ll login using your password (or social sign-in) as usual. Then, you’ll be prompted to enter a one-time code from an authenticator app, which generate time-based codes that refresh every 30 seconds and don’t require an internet connection.

To enable MFA, go to the Account page and navigate to the Security tab. On this page, you’ll see a “Multi-factor authentication status” box containing a button to begin setup for MFA.

MFA won’t be enforced on your account until you have successfully verified that you can generate the correct code from an Authenticator app.

Once enforcement of MFA has begun, you’ll need to generate a new code every time you sign in. This includes when you use a social sign-in, like Google or Discord.
